Just wondering.... Cause I want to learn more about seo. Is there any courses running in Ireland that teach SEO or is this profession all a self thought area...

Oh and if there is none. Do you know of any good book that are worth a read

If you're starting out I'd keep an eye on the seminars run by the likes of the IIA, as they cover SEO

I'd probably opt for either the SEOmoz or the new SEObook training program and go with whichever one had the better support/forum.

Not sure if any of the courses available here are targeted to the would-be practitioner, they seem more aimed at Management IMO.

SEO is also about cause and effect - if you're going to try and learn, have a couple of sites to experiment with!

you tend to get a broad overview at those seminars so i dont think they are worth the money. There are some really superb forums out there such as Digital point and Seo chat where you can pick up a lot of great info once you know the basics.

I'd agree, go knock up a blog, company website, forum, directory, e-commerce shopping site and learn hands-on from the different types of sites you build.

There's enough information on the internet to get you started.

I agree with the people who say go get a few sites to play with. You won't start learning SEO until you work with it.

Although I don't think it's that easy to just knock up ecommerce, forums, websites.

The main issue with getting sites up and running is having original content to put on a site.
