Uptime / downtime website checker

Morning all,

This maybe in the wrong place but feel free to move it if it is.

Currently I am using basicstate to monitor any downtime on a number of client websites (11 websites). Its free and works ok but is very basic. Don't really mind though as its free!

Does anyone use any other alert systems? I am looking for a free system and not just a free trail.

Hey Colin,

I use Website Uptime Monitor - Web Failure Detector and like it with a setting of checking every 5 mins although you can go as much as every minute. You can have as many sites/urls as you like. You can also use the simple ping functionality for IPs. I especially like and use the "successful response" functionality... which is nice for checking if the url/page action was successfull or not (i.e. not just that the page returns a valid response). ooo and almost forgot... it is free with no trail period.

Same as yourself, i use basicstate on a few of my sites. It sends alerts via email when your site is down for a bit.

Everytime my website is down, i am like: oh my god...what if the dmoz editors want to check out my site {would have been the first time for 2 years}?!

ps. bluehost failed last week 2-3 times
