@link8r: Why do you suggest not keeping FTP details within FTP applications? Surely this is a huge pain in the neck if you are a web professional accessing many different sites many times a day.

@michael.burton: Can you cast some light on what you got infected with, and what you are using now to keep yourself clear of the problem reoccuring?

Certain Trojan Horses specifically target FTP applications for saved FTP logins.

I have heard of this happening, obviously first line of defence is virus-checker/malware-filter/firewall up to the eyeballs for starters. Have any FTP applications taken specific steps to counter this problem?

What FTP application do you use?
