Hi there,

At the moment I'm working on submissions. I'm not very clear on how ask.com works and I need to know do they only accept a website because of incoming links or can you submit to a website directly. Also, is it the same for Excite and Lycos. I'm not listed on any at the moment.

If you primary market is Ireland then don't even bother wasting your time on those search engines. Focus on Google which drives about 80-90% of search traffic in Ireland.

My understanding of ask is that they have their own crawler, and as with most other search engines rely on link data to build their index.

Also - don't submit to search engines. Spend your time building decent links. Search engines will find the links, crawl your site, and index what's appropriate.

Even putting your URL into your signature here will give you a few low value links.
