Best Way to Get Indexed in Google

What is the best technique for indexing a new site in google?

I have been using social bookmarking with good success, but I was wondering what everyone else is doing.

I've never been that successful with using social sites to get indexed in Google. They are faster and better ways of doing it i.e. existing sites that I own, directories and forum profiles but that one depends on the forum and my post count.

Absolutely, initially to get indexed, then once I am, I just remove the link.

Directory Submission will be the first step and few links from your own existing website (if any).

You should be in Google index in less than 30 days.

Some directories, SB, and own domains - I expect indexing within a few days, that is the easy bit.

the best way to have your site indexed imo is to sign up to google webmaster tools although url submission also works!

I had the last website I worked on indexed within 4 days - I was led to believe that it would take 4 weeks but it wasn't the case!!

I've submit on Google Webmaster tool and it've very helpful, rather fast.
