Dedicated Server

Hi folks.
We are having regular problems lately with our current host who are generally very slow at getting things done. So the hunt is on for a new host where I can get a dedicated server. Either abroad or in Ireland, depending on price and spec. Here is what we currently get (roughly);

Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.66ghz
8gb ram
2x500gb hdds
2TB bw
cPanel

$196USD per month.

Any suggestions?

Thanks. I have contacted Blacknight and Spiral Hosting just there.

The package from Hosting365 would be outside of what we are currently paying.

Your biggest challenge in the local market will be your price point.

The core2 is not a server processor, so you likely have a 'budget' machine from a large US host. None of the Irish providers host tower servers, and with 8GB ram and a pair of 500GB drives you'll be looking at more than 200 euro for that specification.

Also, as a 'top tier' provider, and the only specialist in dedicated servers in Ireland, hosting365 will happily beat the pricing of any local company.

I had a feeling I might not get something similar over here, but thought I would take a look first. If we get something similar we might be willing to give it the go ahead but for now its just looking for something similar to what we have. :)

Well, our standard (list) spec is a proper enterprise server with Quad core xeon, 4GB ram, 2x500GB drives (hot plug) and all the redundant bells and whistles at 249.95, but drop me an email directly and I'll see what I could do....

Shop around - from Digiweb you can get a quad core Xeon, 8GB RAM, 2 x 750GB drives for the same price €249.99

keep options open and talk to all data centers

Yes, the site says 4GB, but I can do 8GB for Sully at that price as it is the closest spec to what he currently has in the US

All the hosting providers have websites and the OP knows how to use email

Next person who replies to this thread trying to tout their hosting gets banned.

I'm currently waiting on a quote from Digiweb, but from what I am told cPanel isn't an option so that may rule them out. Spiral Hosting and Hosting365 have both sent quotes and been very helpful, but H365 has given us the best quote but still outside our budget. We are looking at other providers still and will make a decision later in the week.
