I can't say I'm overly concerned. There's a perfectly good replacement for every single Google service that I currently use. If they start abusing people's data, I'll just boycot their services completely. If enough people do this, it opens the way for competition who will be more careful with our trust. Google will really need to consider their moves here.

I wouldn't worry too much. Google is a very big company and every move they make is watched and analyse, which in turn could be a good thing for us as they will not over do it.

I remember reading something about Amazon when they change the Privacy Policy, where few lines weren't totally "in-line", but it only lasted few days 'cause media was on top of the situation.

I use to work for a company that had a warning message every time you logged onto your workstation, it basically boiled down to, only send emails / instant message you would be happy to have re-published in a national newspaper.

The internet is no place for secrets :)

Ah that's just paranoia. Granted if you send an email or IM to someone you can't trust, you can end up getting in trouble but, by and large, big brother's not watching nor does he care.

It was a stock market trading company, so generally it was better to be safe than sorry.

However, some of the other trading firm would regularly send everyone in our office porn by mistake, fun times.
