Odd Address

I was asked to take a look at a site for a new client and noticed this oddity
if I type in the domain name domain.ie/ it resolves to
http://www.DOMAIN.ie/COMPANY/www/
and the site pages resolve to this
http://www.DOMAIN.ie/COMPANY/www/index.asp?magpage=8
what's going on here ??

They could be using a htaccess domain redirect to that directory for whatever reason.

Looks like one of Irish Domains' registrations from years ago. The domain 'domain.ie' was regged by them.

Sorry JMCC I think I might have caused confusion here

I used DOMAIN.ie and COMPANY as an example

its the trailing .ie/My Company Name/www/ that interests me.

Just seems to me to be an odd way of doing things.

It's a wee bit insane, but Carlow County Council do something similar.
Carlow Local Authorities *should* load, but instead you get pushed off to a crazy address like this one:
