Wave sent out an email a few days ago saying that they're going to be focussing on the US and Canada markets only.
Existing users from Ireland etc., will still be able to use the service but they won't allow new signups and there'll be no new features for us

Here's the email:

Since day one, Wave’s priority has always been supporting small business owners, and I believe transparency is key to that mission. Because we know our customers rely on the ability to plan ahead, I’m reaching out with information about changes that impact your Wave account.

Over the past two years, the Wave team has worked hard to develop powerful new features that our small business owners need. As Wave’s functionality has grown, the resources required to support it have increased. In addition, new local legislation, such as Open Banking in the EU and UK, make it infeasible for Wave to offer full services in these markets and has required Wave to limit functionality for those customers.

To continue delivering a product that meets our standards, it’s become clear that we need to adapt our approach. In simple terms, we’ve realized we need to change the way Wave allocates our resources and focus.

To support this evolution, Wave is recentering focus on our local market. Beginning December 2020, Wave will devote our product development resources solely to the United States and Canada.

As of November 30, 2020, new Wave account sign-ups are limited to US and Canadian business owners only. Businesses located in other countries will not be able to sign up for a Wave account after November 30.

As a current Wave customer, your Wave account remains active.

Additionally, as of November 30, 2020, Wave will no longer offer email support for most customers outside the US and Canada. Wave Payments customers who currently process payments via Wave’s connection with Stripe will retain access to email support for payments issues until the Stripe connection ends on June 30, 2021.

If you have questions about using Wave, click the Help button in the bottom right corner of your account to access Wave’s chatbot. You can also read articles and guides in the Wave Help Center, and ask questions in the Wave Community Forum.

Wave has no current plans to close or restrict access to existing accounts for customers outside the US and Canada. However, this may change in the future, and we want you to have all the information you need to make the right decisions for your business.

Given these changes, we understand that you will explore other software options better suited to your needs and location, and we want to help make this process as easy as possible for you.

Wave has partnered with Zoho to secure a special offer for Wave users from Zoho Books, a cloud-based accounting, invoicing, and payment processing software. We are actively working with the Zoho team to ensure a seamless transition for all customers who choose to switch to Zoho Books, and we will be sharing more details soon.

If you would like to export your Wave data for your records or to use with another software, please follow these detailed instructions to download your transactions and your customers, products, and invoices.

Small business owners all over the world have been an integral part of Wave’s history; from all of us at Wave, thank you for letting us be a part of your journey. We wish the very best for you and your business.

Sincerely,

Kirk Simpson
