Hello,

How long does it normally take to hear on a submission to dmoz open directory ?

I submitted about 3 weeks ago and not a sausage.

mixed results on this ... I think it was 2 weeks the last time for one of my sites I think it was nearly a year on another :D rather messed up.

Depends on the category ... depends on how active it is.

I never have ... I don't think you do ..

I think there are few, but if they are not part of the category you are submitting to, no use 4 us.

There are rumours that BOTW is bidding for DMOZ and google has recently removed their recommendation to be in DMOZ / Yahoo!. So I wouldn't worry about it as much, it's still worth submitting obviously....

The DMOZ submission says that it can take YEARS to get listed. There are lots of roumers about problems at the site with editors locked out.

Not worth bothering with anymore IMO. Ridiculous waiting times, competitiors working as editors in your section. It's a dinosaur at this stage

I dont think people want to be listed in DMOZ because of the traffic it provides but because of the relationship between Google and DMOZ - it's been long regarded as very important in SEO

I submitted my first site there many years ago. It took probably 6 months before I noticed it was accepted. I hardly ever get traffic from there. I'm positive it helped back in the day....

I believe I submitted my site over a year ago, and haven't heard a squeak so far. And yet I've submitted client sites since then which have been listed. So it seems to be a bit of a lottery.
Keep in mind that Google have devalued the links from there and from Yahoo directory, so it's not as essential as it used to be.
