Hosting a site aimed at USA on Irish Servers

How much of an impact on the sites ranking in Google if any would hosting it on an Irish server with an Irish IP address have? Will it have any affect at all or is it better to host the site on a server in the states if I want it to be ranked on google.com and bring american traffic to it?

I don't think this makes as much of a difference as previously, especially now that you can tell google your preferred audience using webmaster tools

This is the easiest problem to solve - if you had to move to the USA its not complicated. I think you'll have more work in other aspects of SEO...

It's not much of an issue

As long as you have a good connection etc., then hosting it in Ireland for the US market will be fine
