Would anyone know where l could get a copy of the latest hosting stats for Ireland, and to see who has the market share?

Thankyou

Web Hosting Ireland will give you an 'indicative' metric.

Bear in mind that Liberty RMS is not a host (it's actually Afilias, the domain registry), also, ccTLD's are not counted (and of which, .ie has a big impact).

The general order is correct, the numbers are not.

If you contact jmcc who runs WhoisIreland.com Irish Domains Search Engine and Irish Website Directory : Ireland's Search Engine or check his blog at: WhoisIreland Review he's probably the most reliable source

As a result of the acquisition of Novara by Digiweb the top 3 would now be:

  1. Hosting365 - Home
  2. Welcome to Digiweb
  3. Web hosting Ireland, hosting ireland / irish web site hosting Ireland / domain registration, dedicated servers, colocation - Blacknight Solutions: Blacknight Solutions
365 and Blacknight specialise in hosting, while Digiweb started in hosting and now does broadband and telco stuff

BIONIC (Biz/Info/Org/Net/Ie/Com) Stats as of 01/April/2008

Hoster - Tier - BIONIC
Hosting365 Cumulative 2 37842
Digiweb Cumulative 1 19790
Blacknight Cumulative 2 16234
Letshost.ie Cumulative 2 10691
IRISHDOMAINS.NET 2 8896
Eircom.net Cumulative 1 8626
WEBHOSTINGIRELAND.IE 2 6587
HOSTIRELAND.COM 2 5431
SECURE-SSL-SERVER.NET 2 4579
BTIreland Cumulative 1 4366

Novara.ie included in Digiweb's stats.

The Irish .mobi footprint is relatively low. WhoisIreland.com is also tracking 2.5M .eu domains and 3.8M .co.uk domains each month. And the historical data back to 2000 is also available. The full hoster stats report published each month is 25 spreadsheets of data with market shares, new/deleted/transferred stats, Irish footprints in eu/co.uk/mobi and a domain retention analysis of the month compared to the same month last year.

The databases here also track every hoster in com/net/org/biz/info/ie/mobi/asia simultaneously each month and produce domain stats for each of them. One of the projects under development here is a domain history database showing registration/deletion/transfer information on each domain going back to 2000.

Thats great, can you also post the same details for the same time last year, to see the increse and decrease in market share for the above companies?

Are you asking as a civilian or as an employee of a hosting company?

Just a civilian, wanting to know, who is who in the market, market share who is doing the business and who is not, and basically where hosting is going in Ireland

Thought those stats would tell me

Thanks

They won't tell you anything you wont already know from the current players relative sizes, etc.

Combined, digiweb and novara grow are in position 2, and their growth rate means Blacknight will re-overtake them in about 6 months or less (as they signup more customers).

Register365 growth rate ensures it stays out in front (some months growing more than 5 times more than the next guys).

The rest of the market is smaller providers, who will slowly but surely get 'swallowed' up by the larger firms / external firms over the next year or so.

I posted a blog about it here The evolution of Shared Web Hosting Stephen McCarron’s Blog
