We're coming near the end of the re-design of our website, which I'll put up shortly for feedback/critical comment.

Although the current name is registered with Go-Daddy and hosting is with Blacknight, we're also planning to launch an additional new site (on-line shop). We've got what we believe to be a catchy name but I would like to protect the name of the new site ie as a registered trade mark.

Is the process for registering web/domain names similar to registering a trade mark and dealing with patent lawyers ?

Thanks for the feedback/help.

Hi Bell, if you are talking about registering a .ie domain name, it would not be the same as what you will go through for a patent.

If you want to contact me off list, or private message me l can take you through the details over the phone.

If it is for a .com, then its very straight forward.

Kind Regards

Domain registrations are fairly automated these days and you can order them online with most of the hosting companies / domain companies.

Bear in mind that registering a domain does not give you any level of brand protection.
